Halloween Sunday Write Up

No tricks here, this NFL Sunday is a treat for me knowing that My Packers already took care of business Thursday night in Phoenix and knocked off the undefeated Cardinals. Matt Lafleur drew up an excellent game plan and all sides of the ball executed on their fronts. Rodgers and the offense methodically moved the ball down the field with a variation of runs, screens, dink and dunks, with the occasional quick routes to Aaron Jones and Big Bob Tonyan. The defense held Kyler in check with two interceptions and caused another fumble from Rondale Moore to give great field position to the Pack while Green Bay had two fumbles but neither were lost to the Cardinals. Rodgers wasn’t incredible but efficient, connecting with old friend Randall Cobb on two touchdowns. With the long list of Packers on the injured list, it will be good for them to get some extra time off before a Sunday 4pm game at Kansas City next weekend, which is bound to be a good one again.

Honestly, there’s not a whole lot of games I like today. But this is why you play the game!

1pm Slate:

49ers(-4) @ Bears

Bears are without Khalil Mack and HC Matt Nagy, which might even be a positive thing for the latter. Over/Under is currently at 40 which is terribly low. Elijah Mitchell for San Fran should have a good day, so I like his prop of over 71.5 rushing yards and the 49ers to squeak out a win, but not cover.

Bengals(-11) @ Jets

Jets are missing Zach Wilson & recently added Joe Flacco, so they are forced to start Mike White - who? Exactly, need I say more? Give me the rollin’ Bengals and -11 cover, expect it to be a blowout, they could even cover the total of 43 on their own.

1pm Teaser(6 pt):

Bengals -5, Rams -10.5, Falcons +3: I think the Carolina-Atlanta game could be close but Carolina’s defense has been garbage lately and the Falcons get back Ridley in time to continue their hot offense. Rams & Bengals are heavy favorites and can both cover the normal lines but why not take some points to make sure?

4pm & SNF Slate:

Patriots @ Chargers(-4)

The afternoon slate is much more appetizing as we start the candy handouts with a Chargers team coming off a bye hosting Rookie Mac Jones and the Pats. I think this one will be close and the line has come down from 5-5.5 as the week has gone on, so I think I’ll have to take the Chargers ML and ride this potent Chargers offense. I could see it being an under game with the total at 49.5 if the Pats control the time of posession, but could easily turn into a shootout with some average defenses between the two.

Bucs(-4) @ Saints

Both teams are fairly banged up but the Bucs are deep enough on offense to keep Tom and Co. busy in a great divisional matchup in the SuperDome. Bucs are still depleted in the secondary, but the Saints only have so much on offense aside from Alvin Kamara. Tampa will give a healthy dose of carries to Fournette and Brady will throw a couple touchdowns bringing the Saints Boogeyman on Halloweekend. Take the Bucs ML, and the points if you feel so inclined. They’re averaging a combined 55.6 points per game so I slightly lean over but I don’t feel great about it.

Cowboys @ Vikings(-3)

As of now, Dak Prescott is assumed to be out, which is why there’s some crazy movement in the lines here. I think this one is pretty simple and requires a little patience: If Dak plays, give me the cowboys ML, if he doesn’t play, give me the Vikings to cover because Cooper Rush is the backup and I don’t think Zeke and Pollard can do it themselves.
